The Technology and Risk Governance Division uses diverse disciplines and wide-ranging projects to construct knowledge on risks and benefits related to scientific technology use, natural disaster response, and markets and researches systems and policy measures for reaching societal consensus.

Next Generation Sky System
The sky is a strategic domain for Japan and globally, aviation industries that use the sky are important sectors in national policy. This unit aims to be the hub for next-generation sky-system research at the University of Tokyo. -
Technology Governance Policy
We conduct research on technology governance policies by adopting methods for social impact assessment (a new kind of technology assessment), and communicate our findings on appropriate regulation and maintenance of regulatory systems that will respond to changes in the times. -
Risks in the Global Economy: Analysis and Policy
The Unit aims to propose policies to contain risks in the global economy, with special attention to Japan. A particular concern is the recent surge of protectionism worldwide, especially in advanced countries.
