A brief biographical statement that introduce your research background.
After joined Tokyo Shibaura Electric Company (Toshiba Corporation) in 1976, he started his career by studying the safety of Boiling Water Reactors. He experienced various kinds of works including strategic planning of R&D, researches on semiconductor crystal growth. In 1992, he moved to Technology Planning and Coordination Division as a senior manager. In 1996, he was assigned as the General Manager of Systems and Software Research Laboratories. He was assigned as the General Manager of Technology Planning Division in 2000, Corporate Vice President and Director of Research and Development Center in 2003, and General Manager of Corporate Audit Division in 2006. From 2008, He is an Advisor to Toshiba Corporation. He experienced various kinds of activities such as research and development, management of technology and audit.

He joined Tokyo Shibaura Electric Company (Toshiba Corporation) in 1976 and started his career by studying the safety of Boiling Water Reactors in Research and Development Center. He experienced various kinds of works including strategic planning of R&D, researches on semiconductor crystal growth. In 1992, he moved to Technology Planning and Coordination Division as a senior manager. In 1996, he was assigned as the General Manager of Systems and Software Research Laboratories. He was assigned as the General Manager of Technology Planning Division in 2000, Corporate Vice President and Director of Research and Development Center in 2003, and General Manager of Corporate Audit Division in 2006. From 2008, He was an Advisor to Toshiba Corporation and from 2009 to 2010, he was assigned as an Executive Director for international affairs of Yokohama National University. During 2010-2015, he was an auditor of the University of Tokyo and 2014-2018, he was assigned as an Executive Director of RIKEN, the largest national institute for basic science. And he was assigned as an Executive Director and Vice President of the University of Tokyo in 2018. He experienced various kinds of activities such as research and development, management of technology, audit, and management of academic organizations.

His activities are not limited in Toshiba or the University. He was the President of Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, Vice President of Japanese Society of Engineering Education, Vice President of Japan Society for Science Policy and Research Management. He is a member of Central Council for Education, chairman of Japan Board for Engineering Education, Science Council of Japan and so on.
