Overview

Well-being is often mentioned as a goal that smart cities should achieve. The context is that it is important to promote urban development from a human-centered perspective, asking how to make people happy with new technologies. On the other hand, the definition of well-being is multifaceted, and there is criticism about creating a benchmark by unambiguously quantifying the definition of well-being.

The IFI Data Governance Research Unit has been researching the ideal form of human-centered data governance and published its findings in the form of guidelines at the end of last year (https://ifi.u-tokyo.ac.jp/en/news/11249/ ). From this perspective, we will discuss the ideal of well-being, which encompasses diversity and inclusion, and the realization of smart cities through AI and data governance with overseas guests.
