Overview

In recent years, policies on research security and research integrity have been developed mainly in the G7 countries to build an internationally credible research environment. The reason for this is to address concerns that the fundamental values of the research environment, such as openness and transparency, may be undermined by new risks associated with the internationalization and openness of research activities. These policies are now being implemented by funding agencies, public research institutions, and universities as concrete measures to assess risks to their research partners, and guidelines are also being developed. In Japan, there is a movement to form a consortium on research security and integrity at universities as well. On January 21, 2025, we will hold a workshop inviting experts from various positions in domestic and foreign governments and universities to introduce domestic and international trends and to provide suggestions on what Japanese universities and other research institutions should specifically do.

The workshop will provide a variety of contents that will help you in your efforts, including the historical background and policy significance of this trend and trends in other countries.
