We are pleased to announce the publication of a new book titled ” Future Exploration 2050 (Mirai Tankyu 2050)” (Nikkei BP), edited by IFI.

The first part of the book introduces the future-related research, and in the second part, thirty researchers of the University of Tokyo selected from various fields, ranging from economics, brain science, and particle physics to Western art history and Buddhist studies, talk in an easy-to-understand manner about the progress of the search for truth, innovation in research methods, impact on society, and collaboration among different fields. This is a unique attempt to depict the future of knowledge and academia by covering the accumulation of knowledge in diverse academic fields. As a result, we found that there were unexpectedly common aspects between fields that seemed to be completely unrelated to each other. The third part of the book includes a conversation between Makoto Gonokami, President of the University of Tokyo, and Kiichi Fujiwara, Director of IFI.

We hope you will enjoy reading it.
