Shinji Suzuki
Shinji SuzukiProject Professor, Institute for Future Initiatives
Graduated from the Department of Aeronautics at the University of Tokyo in 1977 and completed the master’s program at the Graduate School of Engineering in 1979. After working at Toyota Central R & D Co., obtained a doctor degree in engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1986 and become an associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering. After a visiting researcher at Purdue University in 1992, he became a professor at the University of Tokyo in 1996. He was an assistant to the University President in 2001, representative of the center of aviation innovation research in 2009 (joint representative from 2018), director of the public relations office in 2014-2017, and representative of the Sky Frontier Social Collaboration Laboratory in 2018. He obtained current position in 2019 and emeritus professor at the University of Tokyo. He was the 43rd President of Japan Aerospace Society, and the 95th Vice President of Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. Currently, he is 2019-20 President of International Council of Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS), President of Japan UAS Industry Development Association (2014~), Representative of Aviation Innovation Development Association (2018~), Aichi Aviation Museum Director (part-time) (2017~), Fukushima Robot Test Field Director (part-time) (2019 ~) and Science Council of Japan Collaboration Member (2014 ~).
