Pinar TemocinProject Assistant Professor, Institute for Future Initiatives
Dr. Pinar Temocin was trained in Philosophy in Turkey and Germany and Comparative Politics and Public Policy in France. She interned and carried out projects on international politics and green energy in several research institutes across the globe and researched civil society-related issues at several universities including the University of Montpellier, the University of Auckland, and Seoul National University. Dr. Temocin completed the doctoral studies at Hiroshima University, researching environmental civil society organizations within the post-Fukushima context. Using her interdisciplinary research background and expertise in environmental governance and energy policies, she researches low-carbon energy transition and decarbonization efforts, interactive state-society relations, and collaborative and inclusive environmental governance. She combines the perspectives of political sociology, energy studies and environmental governance, as well as Science, Technology and Society to analyze and develop recommendations for sustainable environmental and energy policies.
Additionally, she currently is a non-residential visiting fellow at the Sigur Center for Asian Studies, Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, DC
