Global Energy Policy and East Asia Research Unit Japan-Taiwan Joint Research Towards Carbon-free Society in ASEAN: The Roles and Risks of Offshore Wind

We will firstly investigate the key challenges faced and approaches taken by relevant actors in Japan and Taiwan. Based on these results and the lessons learned, we wil conduct studies in collaboration with such actors and experts to find out how such experiences can contribute to promoting the green transition in East Asia and ASEAN.
In parallel, we will study possible transition pathways of decarbonization and renewable power development in Vietnam, which is expected to be a key country in the region.
We hope to obtain insight into the key issues of offshore wind development, relevant approaches including cooperation strategies against such issues, and the implication of such approaches for Japan, Taiwan, and ASEAN particularly Vietnam.
