Innovation is nowadays becoming increasingly complex and interdependent, which involves agenda settings based on global and regional contexts, strategic regime design with cutting-edge technologies and new business models such as platforms, the advocacy of new lifestyles and behavioral changes, and the creation of new markets based on policy and rule formation. The complexity and interdependence of these factors are also amplified by geopolitical changes and the growing influence of the global South. These situations surge the necessity of changes in innovation research and innovation models and also educational programs related to innovation management. The purpose of this research unit is to comprehend these changes, to research new innovation models, to deliver policy recommendations, and to contribute to the development of the educational programs. Specific targets include social innovation, data-driven innovation, and social entrepreneurship. This research unit also aims to link the activities and the achievements by the other research units relating to innovation in IFI.
The research unit plans to report innovation models, policy instruments, and educational programs by capturing emerging trends relating with social innovation, data-driven innovation, deep tech and data-driven entrepreneurship, international politics, and governance.
