Background
JMIP 2 Net Zero is a multi-model assessment component of the project, “Decarbonization transition: Multi-model assessment of innovation and lifestyle change,” which is funded by the Environment Research and Technology Development Fund (JPMEERF20212004) of the Environmental Restoration and Conservation Agency of Japan (under the Ministry of the Environment). JMIP 2 Net Zero is now analyzing the pathways toward Japan’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 by employing multiple integrated assessment and energy systems models. The project is intended to examine the role of technology and business model innovations (e.g., carbon dioxide removal, hydrogen, etc.) as well as lifestyle changes. The project runs from April 2021 (FY2021) until March 2024 (FY2023).
